Out of a Flood
As isolated Appalachian communities in Western North Carolina face the worst climate disaster in their history, neighbors must band together in order to survive. Filmed on location in the wake of Hurricane Helene, Out of a Flood is an intimate portrait of loss, community resilience, and care.
Following residents, artists, business owners, and volunteers during the year after the storm, the film provides a first-hand account of how catastrophe can reveal humanity's hidden capacity for collective action, and what is needed for communities to survive climate crisis together.
